Started in 1959 in Phoenix, Arizona, USA, we have concentrated on the challenge Helen Keller gave to Lions International conventions in 1925 to concern ourselves with the plight of the blind and to help the sight of those in need. Click here to read her inspiring speech. Thus, sight conservation is the primary activity of our club.

We raise funds for our good works by hosting bike rides twice a year, spring and fall, usually April and October. Rides are 50 miles for those in shape, with shorter fun rides for everyone else. Massage therapists, rest stops with refreshments, T-shirts, and food at rides end. Please come and join in the fun.

On the international level we support the Lions Eye Bank.
On the local level, after the school requirements are met, funds permitting, we make donations to :
Leader Dog Students -- Dog harnesses and travel expenses
Camp Tatiyee -- A Lions summer camp for people with sight and other disabilities
Sun Sounds -- Special radios given to the blind so they can listen to readings of books, newspaper and magazines.

Providing students with the ability to see clearly in the classroom leads to better grades and an increased appreciation for education. We are helping these young citizens along the road to a good life with clear vision and a clear knowledge that people helping people is part of what contributes to being a good citizen and the making of a wonderful United States of America.
